We had a wonderful time at this peaceful cottage in the trees above Asheville We were there a month, so, had plenty of time to enjoy much what the city has to offer, plus some side trips to nearby smaller towns like Hendersonville, Brevard and Maggie Valley. Very true what others have said about it being so conveniently located to attractions and restaurants but really feeling like you are privately located in a picturesque setting when you are at the cottage. Tama and Alison were very nice and welcoming and responsive whenever we had a question Also noticed that neighbors along the street (on our walks) were very friendly to us. Cottage was great with good internet, TV channel selection, well stocked kitchen for utensils, pans, dishes and glasses. A very quiet stay and we would recommend this location to others and would return again. Thank you so much!ELAINE D.
Great little retro 50's cottage tuck back beside a wooded area that has a walking trail beside a flowing creek. Can view the lake from sitting on porch. Very convient to downtown Asheville, like 5 minutes. Very peaceful setting. Owner provided rowboat, canoe & fishing rods to use.Owners were very warm and welcoming. We will definately be back!Patrice H.
The lake is beautiful and the boat and canoe are available for enjoying the water. My kids loved the rope swing and the fishing dock. We enjoyed fresh eggs for breakfast (provided by Tama) and coffee by the lake. It is minutes from downtown but a quiet, country setting.Mary C.
We stayed at the 'lake house' for 5 days with our 3 year old son. We have such great memories from our stay...swimming in the lake, exploring the creek, swinging on the rope swing, reading in the hammock, fishing, checking out the geese and other animals (pet rabbit & chickens!) & eating amazing veggies from the garden all made our stay seriously perfect (never mind the fact that downtown Asheville is sooo close & a grocery store is even closer)! We spent two full days in and around lake house just spending time together exploring the area. They even have a waterfall!Celine
Okay, so for the sake of writing a reviews instead of a novel, let me just say that this gorgeous lakeside cottage was wonderful. There are lush, green gardens, a mossy trail leading back to a waterfall and river. Picturesque hiking! Going out on the lake in the rowboat and canoe was so much fun! The interior was comfortable and it had everything we needed to make food, drink wine & relax. I would reccomend this to anyone and I'm really hoping to get back next years. Tama has a wonderful energy about him & they were happy to help.Anahatamichelle
What a wonderful family vacation we had at this little oasis. The lake was beautiful. The property was secluded. We were only 5 minutes to downtown Asheville. Tama and Allison were very hospitable. So many fun things to see and do. One week was not enough. We will be sure to return. My two boys (ages 10 & 12) enjoyed the lake. We all swam, floated on tubes, canoes, and swung/jumped in lake using the rope swing. My dog enjoyed roaming the property while making friends with the ducks and cat. Thank you again.Allison G.
Some friends and I were looking for a relaxing and fun spring break and the lakeside cottage helped us do just that. The house and property are beautiful and one of our favorite activities was coffee on the dock which was so nice! The house really is just 5 mins from downtown Asheville and it was awesome to be able to hike near by in the morning and then was into Asheville for the afternoon. As college students who live in a dorm it was mostly nice to just be in a house and do things like cook dinner. The house was stocked with the necessities for doing such and it was really nice to not have to bring things like pots and pans with us. Tama was insanely nice and accommodating, even getting rid of a few bugs for us. Overall we had an amazing time and would recommend this place to anyone!Renee E.
We stayed at the lower cottage (under/behind the main) for two nights when passing through on a long road trip. We were traveling with our 4 year old daughter and it was just the break we needed. The property is beautiful and well maintained, inviting and relaxing. The owners made us feel right at home giving us full access to the rope swing, row boat, dock and fire pit. To our daughters great surprise the owner kept bringing out new animals for her to meet, baby ducks that he had rescued, bunnies, chickens, dogs and cats. Combine that with roasting marshmallows at the fire and it was a 4 year olds dream come true. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable with a big kitchen so we were able to eat in when we wanted. It was close to downtown, the Biltmore and grocery stores. We can't wait to come back. Thank you Tama for a great stay. Maria, Andy, Juliana and LauraMaria D.
A friend and I spent two nights here and wished it could have been more! The setting by the lake was so lovely, we couldn't wait to get back from sight seeing to enjoy it (yes, even from the Biltmore which was just a few minutes away!). Enjoying a glass of wine on the beautiful deck was so peaceful and relaxing. The grounds were beautifully kept complete with garden and a cozy hammock. The house was comfortable, well-equipped and the owners very accommodating. Our stay here was a highlight of our 2-week trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway. I would highly recommend it.Hopalong
We had a very nice stay at the Lakeside Cottage. The cottage is clean and spacious, with just the right amount of space for our family of four to stay, it reminded us of our first lakeside cottage home so much. We loved the nature trails, and visits from the chickens! The kids loved the swing that took them high in the sky over the lake. I love to cook and the owners were happy to oblige my need for many kitchen towels! Everything was is great working order, warm and cozy, with nice towels and sheets. Tons of interesting books, a selection of movies, and cd's were available. Thanks for a great week to the owners, Tama and Allison! The Grays
My wife and I strongly recommend this cottage to anyone seeking a beautifully serene setting with remarkably easy access to all of the attractions within and around Asheville. The owners, who live on the property, were available if needed but allowed privacy when desired. They graciously shared their garden, dock, row boat, etc… The lake is gorgeous, and it even has fish (bass and bluegill galore) for the amateur fisherman. The neighborhood is friendly but quiet. We will certainly stay again on our next visit to Asheville.Anonymous
My husband and I came to Asheville to spend a week vacation for my birthday and we landed in this cottage... What a little jewel! We enjoyed the house -just the right size and the right amenities for us- the beautiful garden, the lake, the (literally) magical trail behind the property, and Tama and Alison's discreet and helpful presence. The rental was the perfect location to start exploring some of the region's wonders: the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore, the city of Asheville. I particularly enjoyed the last 2 days of our stay that we spent in the cottage's gardens reading, relaxing and contemplating the nature. A week of beautiful memories!John and Elisabeth
We really enjoyed our time at the lakeside cottage this past week. Tama really came through and let us rent this unit last minute with our 3 dogs for a week. The cottage has a nice sized kitchen and living room with two comfortable bedrooms. The property is absolutely gorgeous. The cottage sits right at the end of the lake with the spillway only a few hundred feet from the front door. The rental includes a dock with a rowboat and a fire circle right on the lake. We really enjoyed watching the stars while roasting marshmallows! Our dogs loved the trail that led down to the creek. It is such a nice stroll with rock outcrops and a moss walkway. We will definitely be renting this place again. Can't wait!Liz D.
