Because of their mild summer temperatures, the mountains have always provided a welcome escape from the heat at lower elevations. Midsummer afternoon temperatures average under 80° at our houses. Nights are crisp and cool, but seldom too cold for outdoor activities or light camping. Spring and fall are cool and crisp with highs under 60° and lows around 40°. Winter temperatures range from 40° to about 20°, and generally produce a fair amount of snow.
Water Rock Garden Retreat is ideal for people who love solitude, unspoiled views, wildlife, starry nights and full moons, and the sound of rushing mountain streams in the distance. It is beautiful any time of year! Water Rock Garden Retreat is located on a 15 acre knoll just outside of Cherokee, North Carolina. At an elevation of 4500 feet, there are breathtaking 360 degree views with a 30-mile view of Tennessee and the great Smoky Mountains National Park. The property now encompasses a 200 acre tract with a 200-foot waterfall and hiking trails being established to Black Rock – an amazing destination at 5800′ elevation with a 360′ panorama as fine as any found within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Water Rock Garden is located on the North Carolina side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, on the eastern side of the Cherokee Indian Reservation. The retreat is located about 15 minutes from either downtown Cherokee or Maggie Valley.
